North American Industry Classification System (NAICS)
Most businesses are measured against other businesses and/or are asked to identify themselves by their (North American) Standard Industrial Classification Code. Knowing this code is mandatory if you subcontract to the government or corporations. This resource will help you to determine the SIC Code for your business. The NAICS is replacing the U.S. Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) System. NAICS industries are identified by a 6-digit code, in contrast to the 4-digit SIC Code. The NAICS includes definitions for each industry, tables showing correspondence between NAICS and SIC.
